affiliates

As more and more people are entering the world of blogging, there are those who want to make a few dollars for their efforts. But it is important to recognize that turning your blog into a money-maker could turn some of your most loyal readers away. That’s why it’s so important to approach monetization carefully and do it in a way that adds value for readers.

Affiliate marketing is one way to monetize your blog that can also add value for your readers. The key is to include affiliate links for products and services that are relevant to your blog topic and that support your point of view. For example, if your blog is all about preventive health and healthy living, it won’t make a lot of sense to promote “1,001 Chocolate Candies”!

Some people may not be familiar with affiliates. If you promote and sell a product that is manufactured or produced by someone else, you actually become an affiliate. When the product or service is purchased, the person providing the product gives you a commission or percentage of the sale.  Depending on the type of product or service promoted, you can make a little or a lot of money.

The key to successful affiliate marketing on your blog is to choose the best products possible that support your message, views, and topic.  The ads must quickly demonstrate that they do have something valuable to offer your targeted audience. Finding a way to link your content to the ads in a positive, helpful way is advised so people understand why you are including the ads.

When determining which products to promote as an affiliate marketer, keep these tips in mind:

  1. People need to quickly understand the value of the product or service being promoted.
  2. The product or service must be relevant to your blog topic.
  3. Products must be reliable and good quality or they will quickly erode your credibility and value to your audience.
  4. Only promote products or services that you are personally willing to pay for yourself. Testing them out first makes good sense if you want to truly promote value. If you aren’t willing to invest money in them, why should your readers?
  5. Continually evaluate options for affiliate marketing to ensure they are effective. Make changes as needed to ensure top quality products are offered.
  6. Pay attention to what your audience has to say. If they provide negative feedback about your affiliate marketing, then consider it carefully before you continue.

Creating a blog is a way to say something important, influence others, or promote a particular ‘cause’.  When you use your blog in a positive way to promote positive messages and demonstrate your expertise to your audience, you gain their confidence, admiration, and loyalty. Make sure that every component of your affiliate marketing strategy supports your goals and your audience is likely to benefit from the products and services you promote.
